Heavy-duty construction from VoleX Holland. This trap is among the most proven methods for catching underground rodents. Easy setting and simple construction ensure reliable operation. To use the trap in your garden, follow these steps:
- Squeeze the handles to open the jaws.
- Move the locking pin over one handle and place it into the hole of the trigger plate.
- The closer to the end of the locking pin you position the plate, the easier the trap will trigger.
- Always be responsible for your personal safety.
- Dig an opening in the soil the size of the trap, intersecting the mole tunnel, and place it so the jaws surround the tunnel without blocking it.
- Cover the trap with an opaque object to prevent light and air from entering the tunnel, without placing soil on top.
- Check daily by lifting the cover.
The trap is placed in mole tunnels. When passing through, the animals push the trigger with their snout. This releases the spring and activates the trap. It works on both sides.
Detailed instructions:
Dig out the tunnel. Using a small garden trowel, expose a section of the mole/blind mole tunnel about the size of the trap. Clean the loose soil from the tunnel openings so the mole cannot pass under the trap. Do not close or destroy the tunnel opening. Place the trap so the jaws straddle the tunnel without blocking it.
Moles are most active early in the morning or late in the evening. Cover the trap with a board, metal sheet, or another heavy object that blocks light and cannot be moved by wind or pets. The goal is to fully eliminate light at the trap site.
Check the trap daily. If it has caught something, the handles will be closed and this is immediately visible. If there is no catch after 2–3 days, move it to another active tunnel. It is recommended to set at least two traps in different locations in the yard.
